This quotation from Federico Garcia Lorca has been a favorite for a long time. Vocal music is unique in its ability to combine these three components in almost all of the repertoire. There is (almost always) text and melody that combine to paint a picture in the mind of the listener. Thus, this program was built around pieces whose texts paint vivid pictures and evoke from the listener a range of emotions like nostalgia, comfort, and joy.
